Academics

At SCA, we pride ourselves in offering high-quality education experiences that offer our students the opportunity to grow academically as well as emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Our curriculum is selected from the highest recommended core subject mater from across the United States and covers science, math, language arts, social studies, reading, technology, home economics, stewardship, industrial arts, and more. Our curriculum and approach to teaching enables our students to meet, and often exceed, state required academic standards.

Differentiated Learning

SCA's staff are trained and experienced in Differentiated Instruction, allowing them to easily tailor curriculum and lesson plans to meet our student's needs. Whether, challenging high performers or supporting and pulling up struggling learners, our staff have had great success with Differentiated Instruction in their classrooms.

STEAM

Small classroom sizes and strong curriculum lend themselves to our strong focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). Students regularly participate in hands-on activities to explore STEAM in the world around them, as well as in the classroom.

Problem-Based Learning

SCA staff are trained in Problem-Based Learning, a method of developing projects with a real-world focus or application and allowing students to explore creative, practical solutions. Recently, our 3rd and 4th grade class created business plans to support a fictional key chain business, following presentations from bankers, marketers, and business people in our local community.

Art

Each grade level has dedicated time for art as part of their weekly curriculum. From projects that compliment that week's learning objectives to those that help students explore our world in more detail, art is integrated into a various aspects of our learning program.

Home Economics

Not commonly seen through all grade levels, SCA prides ourselves in offering Home Economics for our students through unique and hands-on approaches. Students learn to cook and bake while exploring math and chemistry, common household tasks through community service projects, and timeless activities such as making jam in preparation for holiday gifts for family.

Industrial Arts

Students in grades 5th through 8th learn a variety of practical skills through our Industrial Arts program. Under the guidance of our science and math teacher, students learn basic carpentry skills, automotive maintenance, electrical wiring of simple circuits, and more.

Physical Education

Physical education takes a variety of forms from grade to grade as students are introduced to a range of sports, exercises, and games. Additionally, during daily PE classes, students learn good sportsmanship, how to be a good team member, and healthy self-care and living.

Christian Focus

As a Christian school, Bible classes are part of our daily lessons and an essential element of our curriculum. Additionally, all grades participate in a weekly chapel with singing and character- and faith-building stories. Twice a year all grades participate in a week-long Week of Prayer and community-based service projects.

Outdoor Program

Located in Utah, our school community has a deep love of the outdoors. At least once a year, our school takes the opportunity to join together for a camping trip with destination-specific learning at one of the nearby national or state parks. This program is open to each students whole family and serves as a wonderful community-building experience for our school.
